My name is Chris Lowery. I am the grandson/son of Mary Lowery. My grandmother was an independent woman for 86 years of her life until she took a traumatic fall and broke her hip. She was placed in a skilled nursing facility for six months to rehab and wanted to come home with her family. We brought her home for 4 months, and she began to decline more and more. She was sent to the ICU for almost 3 weeks and fought a good fight with her health issues. She came home and was placed on hospice, and 10 days later, she transitioned her life.

I am now asking for help with raising money to bury my grandmother. When she fell and broke her hip, I recently found out that it was the same time her insurance lapsed. I tried to put life insurance on her now, but at 87 years of age and her diagnosis 6 years ago, the insurance companies would not accept her, stating the age limit cut off is 85. She served as a CNA for 40 years in Waukegan, IL, where she retired.
