CANCER...LIFE CHANGING.
Friends, family, acquaintances, etc. We all know why you are reading this. I need your help. But first, let me fill you in on my journey so far...I was initially diagnosed with [at least] Stage 3 Breast Cancer, with a newly diagnosis of Metastatic Breast Cancer with ongoing treatment at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. But let me tell you, it's been an emotional, mental and physical roller coaster. Included but not limited to, my treatment plan consists of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation then the chemo pill. Treatment was delayed due to complications; I had an infection / Severe Sepsis which required hospitalization. Upon discharge, I was required to do antibiotic home infusions every 8 hours for 12 days. Not to mention, the various complications due to side effects from chemotherapy that delayed/postponed treatment.
Current & Completed Treatment:
Adriamycin (Doxorubicin): 120 MG every 14 days Initiated: 9/24/2024 Completed: 12/03/2024
Cytoxan (Cyclophosphamide): 1200 mg every 14 days Initiated: 9/24/2024 Completed: 12/03/2024
Taxol (paclitaxel): 150 mg weekly & 120 mg weekly Initiated: 12/30/2024 - 01/20/2025 (150 mg) Initiated: 02/04/2025 (120 mg)
Currently on hold:
Tbo-filgrastim (Granix): 480 mcg, Initiated: 10/13/2024
The next step is surgery as follows on May 1st, 2025:
1. MASTECTOMY, PARTIAL
• Performed by Claire L Buchanan
2. ANASTOMOSIS, LYMPHOVENOUS
• Performed by Duane Wang
3. AXILLARY LYMPH NODE DISSECTION
• Performed by Claire L Buchanan
4. MAMMOPLASTY, REDUCTION
• Performed by Duane Wang
I am not married, nor do I have any children of my own, I have been completely financially dependent on my parents and siblings. Although, they are my family, I do understand that they have their own lives and families that are their priorities. If all possible, I would like to take at least part of the financial burden of paying for my medical expenses from my parents and siblings. Considering that I do not have any income at all, other than $297 a month in SNAP food benefits, they provide most of my support for my essential needs and overall expenses.
This is a life altering change for not only me, but for all of us. That brings us to the reason that I am asking for help for the procedure of this surgery that is not covered by my insurance, the ANASTOMOSIS, LYMPHOVENOUS. This procedure is a very important part of my surgery, recovery, my fight against cancer, but must of all – it reduces my chances of getting Lymphedema (a permanent, painful swelling in my arm as a result of the Axillary Lymph Node Dissection). The cost for this procedure MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY APRIL 24th, 2025 (there was a miscommunication, and I was informed of the payment due date last minute). Keep in mind. No donation is too little, every cent counts to help with my medical expense for the procedure, supplies and essential needs.
