Support Mary Ellen in her battle against cancer

Hi everyone,

My name is Kate Pearson and in July 2021 I found out a close friend of mine was diagnosed with Stage 3 Cholangiocarcinoma. This was very shocking news to all of us given her good health and lack of symptoms. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread and formed a tumor that cannot be operated on or removed. Lucky for Mary Ellen, she lives very close to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Jacksonville, FL and will be receiving the best care possible under a team of specialists that treat this specific type of cancer. Mary Ellen is a mother of two amazing teenage daughters and works as a Graphic Arts teacher at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fl. When she is not teaching, she is busy dedicating time to Lincoln High sporting events, spending time with her girls, hiking,  crocheting, watching true crime shows, enjoying the beach and the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

As a mother myself, I can't imagine being in such an impossible situation. Mary Ellen has chosen to undergo chemotherapy and radiation to increase her life expectancy so she will be able to spend as much time with her daughters as possible. Even in the face of this extremely trying time, she has remained her positive and satirical self.  In addition to easing the financial burden, I want her to enjoy her remaining time she has with her girls. Anyone that know Mary Ellen can attest to her carpe diem attitude toward life - packing up and embarking on adventures with her kids and pup.  This diagnosis has really highlighted the importance of making memories and enjoying the small things while you can. Donations received from this GoFundMe will be used to cover basic necessities, housing, food, medical expenses as well as provide a financial cushion so that Mary Ellen can continue to live life as she's used to - road tripping, sight seeing, mountain climbing, and a few bucket list adventures with her girls.
