Help My Mom Fight Cancer and Reclaim Her Strength
Hi, my name is Melissa. I’m 22 years old, and I’m raising funds to help my mom, Mary Boeckel, as she battles Stage 3 Metastatic breast cancer.
My mom has always been a giver. For as long as I can remember, she’s been the one helping others, offering rides, taking people to courts or doctor’s appointments, and just being there for anyone who needed her. Not even her struggles with MS and lupus could stop her from putting others first. She was overjoyed when she found out I was pregnant with her first grandchild, thrilled at the thought of being a grandmother.
Everything changed this past July when she was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, she’s been undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments that have completely turned her life upside down. She’s lost 40 pounds, all of her hair, and so much of her strength. She’s been in and out of the hospital for complications, and seeing her like this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to experience.
The financial strain has only added to the heartbreak. Between co-pays for appointments, chemo treatments, medications, dietary needs, and transportation, she’s fallen behind on her rent. And the fight isn’t over—she still has three more months of chemo ahead, followed by radiation and then surgery. When she starts radiation, I won’t even be able to be near her because I’m six months pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy, and the radiation could harm my baby. She’ll need a home health aide at that point to help her with daily tasks.
Despite everything, my mom is holding on to hope. She talks about meeting my son, her only grandson, and watching him grow. I know that dream is what keeps her going. She’s fighting so hard to be here for him, but we need help to make sure she has what she needs to keep going.
I’m doing everything I can to support her, but between helping her and dealing with pre-term labor and my own health challenges, I’m stretched thin. That’s why I’m turning to you.
The funds raised will go toward covering her medical expenses, helping with rent and transportation, and ensuring she has the care she needs during this difficult time.
Your support—whether through a donation, sharing this campaign, or keeping us in your thoughts—means more to me than words can express. Every little bit helps ease the burden and brings us one step closer to brighter days.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness you can offer. From the bottom of my heart, I’m so grateful.
With love,
Melissa
