Hi, my name is Marvis, and I’m reaching out because I need a little help to keep my dream alive.

I’ve done everything I can to make school work — cutting costs, applying for aid, and exploring every possible option — but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do this alone. My mom isn’t in a place to support me financially, and despite knocking on every door I can, I’m still falling short of what I need to get through this semester.

It’s hard for me to ask for help, but I truly believe in this dream and I want to do everything I can before saying I have to give it up because of money. Even being able to stay in school for this semester would give me the chance to work, earn, and move toward stability.

I know times are tough for everyone, but if you’re able to contribute, even just a dollar, it would mean the world to me. Every bit brings me closer to staying in school and continuing the path I’ve worked so hard to be on.

The biggest reason I went into this field is because I hope to one day be a voice, a guide, and a teacher for young people of color who are in situations similar to mine. The arts matter, and i know personally i wouldn’t be here without it. I want young people of color to know that there is a path for them to pursue their dreams. That’s what’s most important to me, and I just want to see this through. If I can make it through this semester, I can work toward figuring everything else out from there.
