On March 29, Marvin suffered a devastating fall that resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him with no feeling from the chest down. He was airlifted to Peoria and rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors worked to repair his spine in hopes of recovery.
Sadly, it’s still uncertain if Marvin will regain mobility.
Marvin has worked full-time at Knox College, and his wife, Laura, works full-time at Head Start. Since the injury, Laura has used up all of her paid time off to remain by his side. Their daughters—Cassie, Tilliea, and Katie—have also been there with him every step of the way.
Marvin’s best chance at recovery now lies at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, over 3 hours away. The cost of travel, housing, and time away from work has placed a heavy burden on the family.
We’re raising funds to help with medical bills, lost wages, travel, housing, and essential living expenses. Every donation—big or small—helps ease their stress and allows them to focus on Marvin’s healing.
Marvin has always been known for helping others, including many years spent as a youth group leader and Sunday School Teacher at First Christian Church. Now it’s our turn to support him.
Please consider donating or sharing. Every bit truly helps.
