Hello Friends,
As you may know, our friend Angharad from Craftiness is closing her doors. This is and was a very sad announcement for all of us, as she was a driving force, bringing more art into the West End. We are so grateful for everything that she has brought to our creative community. She will be sorely missed.
Many of you also know that I have been struggling with what to do with the shop, 2024 was a very difficult and slow year. Right now in these crazy times, I'm not sure it will get better. What I do know for sure, is that this community is worth fighting for and we need spaces to gather, create and take care of our community.
We now have 3 spaces to fill and thankfully we have 2 lovely gals who want to join us.
With that said, I have thrown my hat in the ring for the third space. I thought, I either close up shop in September or go bigger and offer more programs and opportunities for artists and makers.
I have basically run my shop as a non-profit, offering workshops at minimal cost, supported our local artisans and have coordinated events beginning with Arts Walks, Sip & Shop, Makers Markets, gallery shows and more.
It has been suggested that we start a fundraiser to help with the expansion, security, advertising, workshop teacher funds, equipment and scholarships. I would like to put in place a Board, like a non-profit, who will advise, keep over site of our funds and take an active role in the day to day operations.
After much deliberation, I am not quite ready to let go of 10 years of work.
Thank you for all the support & love that fills our "Happy Place" and don't forget your 10 hugs a day.
Martina
