Hello, I am Eric, the brother of Martin Churchill. I first apologize for asking for help, but I am unable to keep up with the hospital bills on my own with cash via Western Union. While living in the Phillipines is rather cheap compared to many places, the hospitals are not.
Martin has been living in the Philippines the last 8 years and has two young children, Ben and Sophie. Several weeks ago, he complained of pain in the abdomen, was unable to eat, losing weight, and unable to go to the bathroom as normal. This got worse, and I asked him to go for a checkup with an ultrasound and finally a CT scan. This showed his colon and intestines were completely blocked and required immediate surgery. Another day, the doctor said it would have burst. He has now been in the hospital for 2 weeks, and they removed 3 liters of compacted mess from the colon. However, now he has a bowel stoma bag he has to use, and his intestines will require much time to heal, if at all, as there are many large lumps there.
Sadly, to add to this, they noticed while in surgery that there was a fist-sized growth on his liver. We are awaiting the biopsy on this right now. According to the doctor, it looks malignant, so that is not so good to hear.
He is still at the hospital, and I am sorry but need to ask if anyone that remembers Martin from his many years on the cruise ships may be able to help somewhat with these bills, and possibly help him while he recovers to be able to work.
