Support Martha's Salon: 25 Years of Community
Donation protected
As someone who supports the small businesses along Colfax Avenue from Grant to Josephine, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many of our neighborhood’s hardworking entrepreneurs. Martha Valadez, owner of Martha’s Beauty Salon, is one of them—and she holds a very special place in our community and in my heart.
Martha has been part of the Colfax fabric for 25 years. Her salon has been more than just a place for haircuts and beauty treatments—it’s been a welcoming space, a cultural touchstone, and a source of pride for Denver’s Hispanic community. But right now, Martha is facing some of the toughest challenges of her life. Rising rents, demographic shifts, safety concerns, and ongoing construction from the BRT project have drastically impacted her business. On top of that, she’s now the sole caretaker and provider for her husband after his recent heart attack.
Martha’s situation calls for more than what my typical role provides. She is a resilient, talented, and deeply rooted part of Colfax, and I cannot stand by while she risks losing the shop she’s built with decades of love and labor.
This GoFundMe is our chance to step up for someone who’s always shown up for her community. If you’ve ever walked by her bright storefront, received her services, or simply believe in preserving the spirit of Colfax, I invite you to give what you can. Let’s make sure Martha’s Beauty Salon stays right where it belongs—on Colfax, serving and uplifting others.
