As we know, times are... difficult right now. But they're more difficult for some of us, particularly people who have been directly affected by DOGE. And our dear friend Marteki unfortunately falls into that category. She was a long time federal employee and was DOGE'd earlier this year. She hasn't received a paycheck in months, is the primary parent to two kids (with no child support), owns a home in Oak Park, and has spent the last several months working on getting a business off the ground and looking for another job. The most immediate concerns are the cost of health insurance premiums and medications. None of us ought to go without health insurance, but someone such as Marteki, who has MS and lots of health complications from it, especially cannot go without. And those health conditions require specialist providers, which make it very difficult to use Medicaid.
