Hey everyone. Thank you for taking the time to check out our story. My name is DJ and the puppy in the picture is “Marshmellow”. He is a 6 month old pit bull with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He was born on November 17, 2023 and is also my birthday pet son (my birthday is November 14). Here was an update from my Facebook post that I posted this morning where someone suggested I make a gofundme acct:
UPDATE:
So we have Marshmellow home right now. Brought him home around midnight. We are not out of the woods yet. We couldn’t get him the full care he needed because we just don’t have the money. We did the cheapest thing we could. That alone was $1480 but I only paid $700 and I’m on a payment plan for 8 months @$100/mth. He needed more care than this but couldn’t do $3600. Important thing is, he got his anti-venom and that was almost $700 by itself. Got some fluids in him, have some pain meds for him. He does have a fentanyl patch he will keep on for 4 days and a bandage around that so no one can touch it. That is making him feel good. He is trying to walk around but limping really bad. He didn’t get no blood work done because that wasn’t in the cards for us money wise but they did do a blood smear and it was confirmed that it was a venomous snake. Have to pay attention to his wound to make sure it isn’t opening more and looking out for bruising anywhere on his body or drooping of his skin around the affected area. That can be a sign of necrosis which isn’t good. Worst case scenario, he could pass on to doggy heaven or lose his leg. We love this dog so much and so do his sisters. He is one of our family members and is really like a little brother to his sisters. He plays with them and even will aggravate them to get on their nerves at times. We only hope he makes it through it. We love you Marshmellow and you’re a good boy, a great dog and you can do this!
So as you can see, we are in need of some help to get him the proper care he needs. CVETS told me the cost can range from $1480 to as much as $4500, which is why I am making the amount to $5000 to raise. Anything will help us and if we reach that goal, I would be ever so grateful and if we didn’t reach this goal, I would STILL be ever so grateful for yall’s contributions. If he did have to get his leg amputated, it’s gonna cost a lot of money which we do not have. I considered looking for him a rescue that could take over the bill and surrender him to them so he could live out a fulfilling and healthy life, even if it wasn’t with us but we love him to much to let go of him and he is such a great and enjoyable part of our family. Thank y’all for taking time to read our story and we appreciate y’all as well. Please keep Marshmellow in yalls prayers. Thank you.
