My name is Michelle Smith, and I am a proud mother from Washington, DC. I am raising funds to support my son, Marquel Smith, who is an 11th grade student at KIPP College Prep High School. Marquel has been selected to participate in the 2026 Alpha Scholars College Tour hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. from March 31 through April 2, 2026. This amazing opportunity will allow him to visit several Historically Black Colleges and Universities and learn more about college life, academic programs, and future career opportunities. During this tour, students will visit Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, and Shaw University. Experiences like this help young students see what is possible for their future and encourage them to pursue higher education.

I started this fundraiser to support Marquel as he prepares for this tour. As a mother, I want to make sure he has the opportunity to explore colleges and stay motivated about his future. The trip itself is covered, but I am hoping to raise funds to help Marquel with spending money for meals, necessities, and any educational materials while he is traveling. Marquel is a hardworking student with big goals for his future, and this experience will help him stay motivated and focused on college and career success.
