Well… I did a thing.
For the first time ever, I officially adopted from TAF. Not because I wanted to be some “hero,” but because—excuse my French—WHO THE HELL SURRENDERS THEIR 13-YEAR-OLD, MEDICAL DOG who’s clearly at the end of their life?
Marley was literally scheduled to be euthanized at 3 PM today. Rescues are overwhelmed. Completely full. And honestly, dogs like Marley? They don’t always make the cut because their medical needs aren’t cheap, and fosters are few and far between. But when no one could step up, I knew I had to.
So, Marley is home. He will be seen by a vet and we’ll come up with a plan to keep him as comfortable as possible. His list of medical issues is long:
– A skull fracture that was never properly treated
– A mass that could be benign or cancerous
– Severe dental disease
– Hip dysplasia and arthritis
This is just to name a few things.
I don’t know what the vet bills will look like yet, but what I do know is that he is safe, and he will be loved for every single day he has left.
I am setting up a gofund me for the ones that have been following Marley and wanted to help contribute to his medical.
