Hi, my name is Marley Reid.
A few days ago, I moved into my dorm at the University of Mississippi to begin my freshman year. I’ve worked hard to get here—with a 4.0 GPA, leadership roles, and a deep commitment to my future—but right now, I’m facing a heartbreaking reality: I can’t afford to stay.
Until this week, I believed my college plans were solid. I had done the work, applied for scholarships, explored every possible financial aid option, and was prepared to take out student loans with a parent cosigner. But just five days before my move, my father told me he would not be helping or cosigning a loan after all.
My mom—who is single and works a full-time job plus two part-time jobs to keep our family afloat—already co-signed a loan and apartment for my older sister, and she simply can’t do it again. She’s done everything in her power to support me, and now I’m left without options.
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a lot of hope. If you’re able to help me raise the funds I need for tuition and basic college expenses, it would mean the world. Every donation—no matter how small—brings me one step closer to making this dream a reality.
Thank you for reading my story, for sharing it, and for helping me believe that this next chapter is still possible. I won’t give up—I just need a little help getting there.
With love and gratitude,
Marley
