Hello, my name is Valerie. I have created this Gofundme in hopes of raising the necessary funds for Marley’s amputation surgery. I took Marley in when his owner was unable to care for him for personal reasons. I was told that he had fallen out of a moving car and injured his paw, but did not receive medical attention. The day I picked up Marley, I immediately took him to the pet hospital where we were told he suffered a brachial plexus injury. The fall caused damage to the network of nerves which starts in the neck region and extends to the forelimbs and controls the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and paw. Marley, just 1 year old, has already faced more challenges than most dogs do in a lifetime. Despite the care we've given him over the past four months, including daily exercises, injections, and laser therapy, his condition hasn’t improved. The vet has recommended an amputation to prevent possible infection, which is crucial for his future. Without this surgery, Marley could face life-threatening complications. I chose to take him in because I couldn’t imagine leaving him to face an uncertain future, and over these months, I’ve grown deeply attached to him as has everyone who has had the opportunity to help take care of him. Marley is incredibly resilient—one of the most lovable dogs I’ve ever met—and he deserves the chance at a better life. While this journey hasn’t been easy, we’re hopeful that with support from the community, we can raise the funds for his surgery and give Marley the chance he so truly deserves. Together, we can give him the best possible future.
