Hi, my name is Stacy Strow. My pups are my children and best friends, Marley Jean Strow and Tony Baloney. MJ has had a rough couple of months. It started on June 4th. We took her to the orthopedic vet, and she needs surgery because she has a torn CCL. MJ is five years old and the best pup I could ask for. So, my husband David and I would not hesitate to get her the best care. This first surgery was $6,900.00. She was doing great, walking and being happy. Then, on the 29th of June, we woke up, and she was not walking, no movement in the hind legs. It was Sunday, and our orthopedic vet was closed. We took her to the ER vet, and six hours and $806.61 later, we headed home to wait for the vet to open Monday to see the neurosurgeon. We arrived, and after the MRI, which cost $2,500.00, we found out she has a ruptured disk and needed surgery right away. Once again, we did not hesitate. This surgery was $11,000. We picked her up, and she was doing so good. At the two-week follow-up, she was putting weight on both legs, standing for about 10 seconds. The vet was happy with her progress. We brought her home Thursday, and by Sunday night, she was crying. Monday morning, no weight on her hind legs, just a lot of pain. So, I called my vet, and she said to bring her in Tuesday the 22nd. Took her in, and lots of tears later, MJ needed another MRI and surgery. She ruptured another disk. I didn't know what to do; I was crying because I want her to have a great life, but my savings account was going down. We are not lavish people; we like to stay home and swim with the dogs. So, when the time came to make the decision about surgery, we had to give her a chance. The vet was really understanding, and she gave us a break. This surgery will be $4,119, which includes the MRI. Between the credit cards and bank account, I feel like Marley Jean needs help. So, my family would appreciate anything that you can give.
