Hello everyone,

My name is Marla, and I am reaching out during a deeply vulnerable chapter of my life. Last year, I relocated from California to Nevada, driven by aspirations for a fresh start and new opportunities. It was a decision made with hope and optimism, yet the reality has unfolded differently than I envisioned.

The specialized medical care I require is simply not accessible in my current location. Long waitlists, limited resources, and the challenge of navigating everything on my own have taken a significant toll—both physically and emotionally. Nevada lacks the needed resources to address my medical needs effectively. After much contemplation, I have resolved to return to California, a place where I can access the care I need, be closer to the support network that is vital to my well-being, and spend precious time with my aging mom.

Why Nevada Isn’t Sustainable for My Health and Well-Being:

The lack of access to specialized care in Nevada has deeply affected my ability to manage my health. Long delays, limited providers, and the strain of handling everything alone have worsened my condition and heightened daily anxiety. I often find myself postponing essential treatments, not because I want to, but because the support just isn’t here.

Returning to California isn’t about convenience—it’s about survival. There, I’ll have access to qualified specialists, coordinated care, and programs tailored to my needs. I’ll also be close to my aging mom, whose presence offers emotional support and companionship that has been sorely missed. These are not luxuries—they are necessities.

Throughout my life, I have prided myself on my independence, often striving to solve problems on my own. Asking for help is not something that comes easily to me—it leaves me feeling exposed and vulnerable. However, I have come to recognize that this is a journey I cannot undertake alone. And so, I find myself here, doing something outside of my comfort zone: reaching out for assistance, because I truly need it.
