I'm reaching out today to share the story of a remarkable woman who's fighting for her life, our friend Marla Hughes. If you've lived in the Kettle Falls area for any length of time, you've likely crossed paths with her. She's been a pillar of our community for 34 years, a devoted mom to Callie and Tanner, a reliable school bus driver, an ambitious coordinator for Town and Country Days, and a fierce competitor in our local adult softball league.

Last November, Marla was diagnosed with colon cancer following a routine screening. She faced this challenge with the same quiet strength she brings to every aspect of her life. After surgery and a hopeful prognosis, we all believed the worst was behind her. But life had another curveball in store.

In June, a routine CT scan revealed a spot on her liver. Cancer strikes again. This month has been a whirlwind of tests, consultations, and a rollercoaster of emotions. But Marla, being the fighter she is, is ready to step up to the plate once again.

Marla's best shot at beating cancer is with the incredible team at Hope4Cancer in Mexico. This world-renowned treatment facility specializes in Integrative Oncology, healing patients in mind, body, and soul. Marla's treatment plan involves 200 treatments over a three-week period, six days a week, for 6-8 hours a day. She's been placed at the top of the list for treatment, scheduled from July 6th through 28th.

But she needs our help to get there. The cost of this life-saving treatment is $56,000. We're reaching out to you, our amazing community, to help us raise the funds needed to give Marla her best chance at beating cancer.
