I am raising money for my niece Marla and her husband Chris Hammer. Chris is a US Air Force veteran who served overseas during Desert Storm.
Recently, Chris was at his job when he felt a pop in his hip joint. He went to the ER and was told that he may have dislocated the joint and would need physical therapy.
However, that was just the beginning of his problems. It was also discovered that he has esophageal cancer, as well as cancer in his lymph nodes and liver. It was caught early but can only be slowed down, not cured. He begins chemotherapy soon.
Marla and Chris are two of the kindest, hardworking people I know. In 2016, Marla was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had a third of one kidney removed. That impacted them physically, emotionally, and financially, as will this new challenge.
Everyone is helping as best they can, but the circle of friends and family are not necessarily in a high-income bracket. We are hoping that through the grace of acquaintances and strangers, people are moved to help.
When trying to determine how much to ask for, Marla said, “We need the money but we don’t want to be greedy.”
The amount was derived from Chris’ wages multiplied by 6 months. He is awaiting VA benefits, but that will take weeks to months to receive. They need help NOW!!!
Please help this family in great need. They deserve it.
To state the obvious, every little bit helps. So please, if you only have $5 or $10 to spare, that would be helpful.
This was ready for posting when Marla asked me if I could add that they are grateful and thankful in advance for your support. Marla and Chris are truly selfless. They often help others who are in need, even if it sets them back momentarily.
I wish I knew how to better express what a difference you can make in the life of a very loving, deserving couple,
