Support Markus Robbins' Road to Recovery

*updates at bottom*
As many of you know, Markus Robbins, was in a severe motorcycle wreck Sunday July 21st 2024. Markus was unresponsive at the scene and life flighted to U of L in Louisville, KY.

Markus is currently sedated. He is having issues with his cranial pressure (due to a brain bleed on the left side), he has a broken eye bone, a broken nose, and he's on the verge of having pneumonia. We are looking at a couple possible surgeries as of right now and a very long road to recovery.

Please pray, donate, and share if you're able. Markus is a funny, determined, hard working, and loving family man. We are trying to help Julie (Markus' wife) with finances and the kids.

We have no idea the medical bills that lie ahead, the time off of work Julie will have to take, the trips back and forth to Louisville, and any other expenses that may add up. Anything helps in this horrible time we have ahead. If anything, please pray.

7/26 Update- Markus still has an extremely long road to recovery ahead of him. He started to develop pneumonia and they had to do a procedure to clean out his lungs and get a sample to see what antibiotics he needs. They took him off sedation once for just a little bit and he moved some but did not open his eyes and can't move his right arm. They want to put in a trache and give him a feeding tube. Right now their main concern has switched from his brain to his lungs. Continued prayers are needed.

7/27 early morning update- Some of you may have heard already, however, Markus took a turn for the worse out of no where and it became a very 'close call' of an evening. His pneumonia turned into a really bad lung infection that was causing him to have o2 issues amongst other things that were not good at all. At that point there was only one option to try and if it didn't work we'd have to go to last resort measures. However, thankfully this medicine (veletri), along with a paralytic, and a mixture of a couple other things, Markus' stats improved drastically. At this time, it's just a pray & wait game. We have to see how he does over the course of the next few hours- a days time.

7/28 At this time its still a watch-and-see situation. A time where we have to continue to pray and be patient. The doctors are still rotating him every 18hrs. Yesterday late afternoon when they turned him from belly to back his blood pressure dropped to 38 and they had to get the crash cart. They rotated him again and we ran into more destabilization but he's back to stable again. They believe the lung infection is from dirt and debris. We should have more updates tomorrow after talking with doctors.

7/29 morning update- Theyre going to try weaning Markus completely off the paralytic today. Will take about 6 hrs. That will allow him to initiate breaths on his own if he can. If all goes well there will be a CT and MRI tomorrow, he can’t go today because they still have him on the lung medications and he can’t ‘travel’ on that.
Trach and peg tube Wednesday, again, if all goes well. Chest X-ray today looks much better today, still really bad but better. Doing labs in a bit to check blood gases to see how he is tolerating this mornings vent changes. Keep praying yall❤️

7/31 update- They went ahead put trache in this morning but couldn't do the peg tube because he's not stabil enough. They're having big difficulties keeping his airways clear, he is coughing up stuff, but they have to suction his lungs often and when they do it messes with his blood pressure. They also did waiting on results for CT scan. Again, just keep praying.. we are all so ready for steady positive news.

8/02- ufortunately Markus is still not awake. We are very impatiently waiting but in true typical bull headed Markus fashion he is agitated and still semi sedated due to that and blood pressure. I’m sure the pain is terrible but hopefully we can get him up soon.
Doctors were able to do MRI today and GREAT news - nothing catastrophic that they see. There is damage to the front of the brain that controls the impulse/personality and they can see why the right side is weak, and likely will always be, but they also feel confident with therapy it will get stronger! They are going to start him on some meds for his muscles because theyre getting tighter.

8/03- Blood pressure is good, they also turned his vent settings down more, and they lowered his meds to where he woke up for a few minutes and looked around that's best we've gotten so far. He's still agitated from pain we assume. Just keep the prayers coming. It's a long road ahead and Julie is still off work being by his side in the hospital. She is also still traveling home to care for the kids and house then back to the hospital. Every little prayer, share, and donations helps and we are SO very thankful.

8/17 update- First, I'd like to apologize for slacking off on updates. Life has severely taken a toll on not just me but our entire family. If my mental & emotional state is how it has been I can only imagine how my sister feels. She's extremely good at not showing just how she truly feels and I've seen her break down quite a bit.
Markus hasn't had A LOT of change but there has been some good, some bad. We have been waiting entirely too long to get him transfered to Fraiser where he can have his intensive therapy to try to get him as close to his normal self as possible. We were on a steady small roll of positives until yesterday. Yesterday they had to do emergency surgery. They seen where his white blood cell count was high and he was running a fever. They found a severe infection in his abdomen where his feeding tube was leaking into his abdomen for roughly a week. Last night when they did the emergency surgery, they got 100ML of fluid out of his stomach (thats a LOT!) which is why we think it's been going on for a week or so. He got back to his room last night and has been stabil. However, today, his white blood cell count is up even more, it’s now 40. His potassium levels are high as well. They are testing him for sepsis. Aside from that, he isn't talking yet and he still has right side weakness. He will move around and nod his head to answer questions or mouth words just can't fully speak. This is going to be a longer road than we thought. Julie is still traveling back and forth to Louisville, taking care of the kids, and not only are monthly bills piling up but now so are the medical bills. Please continue to share & pray! ❤️ thank you all that care!
