Friends. Our precious Mark Hendricks was riding his motorcycle down to the DMV on June 24, 2026, when he was hit by a red light runner. He has suffered a terrible blow to his body and his livelihood as a full-time, self-employed carpenter and musician.
He has multiple broken bones in the left leg and left arm, a punctured lung, a broken sternum and several broken ribs. He had to have 4 complicated surgeries within 8 days, and a lengthy stay at UK Hospital. He has endured a tremendous amount of physical pain and uncertainty. He is currently completing his in-house stint at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital. When he is released, he will be coming home in a wheelchair and will be reliant on full time assistance for the immediate future. Clearly, this will be a hard row to hoe.
As I type, a wheelchair ramp is being built and physical accommodations are being arranged for him to be able to come back home. We know he is looking forward to being able to “Netflix and chill” with his wonderful wife and their sweet dog, Lucy, as soon as possible.
Mark and Aleah are only beginning the process of figuring out how they are going to manage full-time care with low to no income.
No doubt, we are all looking for something to do to help.
If you can spare a dime, no contribution is too small.
