Support Mark’s Recovery After a Life-Altering Accident

Dear friends, family, strangers, and everyone in between:

I created this fundraiser to reach out for support during an incredibly difficult time for our family. Mark (my mother's significant other) was involved in a terrible farming accident in October that nearly took his life and could've just as easily almost taken hers. After months of procedures, hospital stays, and intensive rehabilitation, he is finally on the road to recovery and getting ready to come home. While this is a huge step forward, there is still a lot of work to be done to make sure he has everything he needs to heal and regain his independence - but the journey is far from over.

While we're thrilled that Mark is coming home, it won’t be easy. The impact of this accident has left him with serious, life-changing injuries. He will require constant care, physical therapy, and modifications to their home to make it accessible for his new needs. To give you an idea of what they’re facing, here’s a list of some of the urgent projects and expenses that lie ahead:

• Renovating the downstairs bathroom to accommodate mobility needs.

• Building a wheelchair ramp for safe access into and out of the house.

• Electric Wheelchair & Medical Equipment: Mark will need an electric wheelchair and other specialized equipment for his care and rehabilitation.

• Hospital and Medical Bills: The bills have been overwhelming, and they are just beginning to face the financial impact of this long hospital stay and the ongoing treatments.

• Ongoing Care: As we prepare for Mark coming home, there will be costs associated with at-home care, therapy, and more to ensure he has everything he needs to heal.

Both Mark and my mom have been out of work since October, and as you can imagine, this has placed an immense financial burden on them. Our siblings and I have been doing everything we can to keep everything back home under control, but it's been a constant struggle for everyone mentally, physically, and emotionally. The boys have already had to make some tough decisions with the farm and all the cows, and while we’re doing our best, they simply can’t do this alone once he’s home.

As we prepare for Mark’s discharge date, any support would be greatly appreciated even if just words of encouragement! Any donations we receive will go directly toward making the necessary home renovations, purchasing medical equipment, and covering ongoing care expenses. Your generosity will help ensure Mark has the resources he needs to continue his recovery in the comfort of their own home.
