Hi,

My name is Mark Hastings, and I have been diagnosed with Moyamoya disease. Moyamoya is a chronic, progressive condition of the arteries in the brain. This leads to a narrowing of the blood vessels which results in blockages and strokes.

On August 22, 2024, I had a hemorrhagic stroke. I spent 5 days in ICU and 2 weeks in a rehab hospital. Further testing revealed that I had Moyamoya disease. I underwent my first Moyamoya surgery on 12/31/2024. I am hoping that was the first and last. Testing is still ongoing so that doctors can make a final decision as to further surgery or treatment.

All of this treatment and surgery has cost a lot, both paying for deductibles/expenses, as well as time away from my work. If I don't work, I don't get paid. I am trying to raise at least $15,000, which only begins to cover the out of pocket expenses. If everyone reading this chipped in perhaps $10-$20, I could soon meet my goal.
