Mark Bourque is a person who is so special to so many people. Recently, Mark began experiencing frequent chest pains and, after following up with a cardiologist, he received devastating news: he had at least four blockages in his heart. The blockages were too severe for less invasive procedures, and open heart surgery was inevitable. The doctors explained the urgency of the situation and scheduled surgery within days.

As if this wasn’t overwhelming enough, Mark’s employer called just days before his surgery to let him know that he no longer had a position with the company. This means Mark will only have health insurance until the end of the month, and he’s still waiting to hear about disability insurance. Mark is also the father of a young daughter, and he has many financial responsibilities to manage while he recovers from this life-saving surgery. During the operation, doctors discovered that Mark had already suffered at least a couple of heart attacks, and they performed five bypasses. They later told Mark he was lucky to be alive.
