Hello everyone, my name is Markisha Keene and I am 34 years old and a mother of two. I have a three-year-old and a fifteen-year-old. We are originally from California but got stationed in north Carolina when my husband was active duty Army. He got out in May of 2024 and he went into the North Carolina National Guard.

I am trying to raise money to help pay my medical co payments and house hold bills. This is because on December 14th, I had a rectal prolapse that led to me being admitted to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for six days. I had an emergency colonoscopy where they found a 5cm tumor in my colon. Before leaving the hospital, I was diagnosed with stage one colon cancer. Due to this, I was put on work restrictions such as no lifting over 20lb and no sitting more than 20 seconds with a 10-minute break in between.

My job at Pinehurst Country Club and Golf Resort as a security officer can't really work with these restrictions. So they put me on medical level but out here I dont get paid on that type of level. They haven't fired me, do to this i dont qualify for unemployment because technically I still have a job but they haven't given me any hours or any money since December and this is putting a lot of strain on us.

I also go to school full-time right now at Fayetteville State University. I am getting a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and psychology with a minor in social work. In the next month alone, I have 10 doctor's appointments to try and fix me. My family could just use any help possible right now.

It was brought to my attention that people dont know that we do have tricare reserve select however with that type of insurance we have to pay 20% for hospital bills because he is in the national gard not active duty we also pay 298 a month to keep tricare and I have a 20 copay for my doctor appointments and 40 for specialist appointments and 50 for emergency rooms and urgent care its not the best insurance tricare prime is the best but that only for active duty solders a lot of people don't know about this i know we did not tell he switched. This is why we are asking for help. It's also manly because at the moment I am not working so its putting a financial strain on us.
