On Thursday, October 10, 2024, our little warrior Markel R. Kidd, Jr., affectionately called “Boogie,” 1 year and 7 months of age, faced a life-threatening challenge after accidentally getting a ball lodged in his throat. His mother, Cassidy, whom was 37 weeks pregnant at the time, performed life-saving care and called 911. His 3 year old sister, Merci, opened the door for the paramedics who dislodged the ball from his throat.

MJ was taken by ambulance to a local hospital before being transported by helicopter to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. He went into cardiac arrest twice, was placed on a ventilator and fitted with a feeding tube. Boogie was released from the hospital on November 19th after a month-long stay, but returned the next day with a fever. He is currently recovering at home.

Boogie has shown remarkable resilience in the face of a hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and seizure disorder diagnosis caused by a lack of oxygen. Encouragingly, he is now off the ventilator. While he is still unable to hold his head up, he is making much more progress.

There are therapies available for him that are not covered by his parents’ insurance. While the medical insurance has done a marvelous job in addressing hospital bills, we plan to take him to the NAPA Center in Los Angeles https://napacenter.org/ (https://napacenter.org/) for  intensive therapy . It is $4970/ month ($1000 deposit + $1323/ week). We would like for him to attend these therapies for six months.

In addition to NAPA, we want to provide him with electrical stimulation therapy that stimulates neurons and muscles at In Focus Pediatric & Neuro Physical Therapy and Wellness Center https://www.infocus.center/ (https://www.infocus.center/) with Dr. Kristin Girshin. Boogie will receive this on a more routine basis, and our cost is $189 per session.

Boogie is a bundle of joy. We look forward to him hugging and kissing us, running around with his sisters, and playing his drums again. Before the accident, Boogie was looking forward to the arrival of his new sister Connie and had given her the nickname Coco. We thank God that His will will be done in Boogie’s life and His plans for Boogie will come into fruition.

We have unwavering faith in God's power to heal! We believe God for a complete recovery. We are committed to providing Boogie with the best possible treatment and therapy, trusting that God will guide the way. We invite you to join us in praying and thanking Jesus for Boogie's complete recovery, including the restoration of his motor skills, muscle control, and complete intellectual interaction.

Your financial support for Boogie's medical care and therapy would be a wonderful blessing.

Hebrews 10:14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
