Support Mark Samra's Film For Sikh Awareness

Hello!

My name is Mark Samra. I am seeking your help in funding my very first independent-film based on the novel, "Green River", available on Amazon. This is a project which I began during the heart of the pandemic in 2020 as I wrote "Green River" in 2020 and early 2021.

I believe this story will be a great piece of visual art that represents bravery, family and sacrifice along with the ability to navigate obstacles through greater levels of perseverance.

Taking place a month after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001 - this story focuses primarily on a Sikh gas station owner in rural Northern California and his challenges after being seen as an adversary of America by some (shortly after 9/11) for his appearances of wearing a turban and having a long-kept beard. As a victim of an obvious and vicious hate-crime, Mr. Ramneek Singh seeks out a means of doing his own due diligence through his own version of detective work only to be immersed into a barrage of nefarious individuals who focus more in the business of power than simply terrorizing Mr. Singh and others.

There is no doubt in my mind this story will raise awareness for the Sikh Community in the United States of America who faced an unsurmountable level of ignorance after the horrific events taking place in 2001 into the late-2000s. Many Sikh-Americans were openly assaulted, spat on and in some very grim cases - murdered, simply for how they looked. With the hopes of this project coming to fruition - those from Punjab, India and Pakistan would also be educated on better recognition of what their fellow-South Asian brothers and sisters have gone through in attempting to carve out a better piece of life in the West.

I truly believe this story needs to be told, as I have seen very little representation of this kind of story regarding Sikhs in a post-9/11 America.
