Support for Mark Lewis – Firefighter Battling Colon Cancer

Mark Lewis, a 44-year-old devoted husband, firefighter, and friend to many, was recently diagnosed with colon cancer linked to a rare genetic disorder called Lynch Syndrome. This unexpected news has been a heavy blow to him and his wife of 14 years, especially as they navigate the physical, emotional, and financial toll of this journey.

Mark’s heart for service runs deep. He began his fire career as a volunteer in Calcasieu Parish, later serving in Arkansas, where he met his wife. Life brought them back home to Louisiana, where Mark returned to his roots—volunteering for the Iowa Volunteer Fire Department. His dedication and hard work earned him a full-time position as a firefighter at Lake Charles Regional Airport and a part-time officer role with Iowa Fire Department. He has always gone above and beyond to serve the people of Iowa, Louisiana, and Calcasieu Parish.

Outside of work, Mark is known for his commitment to living a healthy lifestyle and his passion for fitness. On days off, you’ll likely find him at the gym. He and his wife love to travel and embrace every moment life offers—alongside their two beloved rescue dogs, Bagel and Boone.

Now, as Mark faces one of the biggest challenges of his life, we’re asking for support from our community. Funds raised will go toward mounting medical bills and necessary travel expenses for treatment—including gas, hotel stays, and pet boarding for their dogs.
