Hello, my name is Kelly Hoefer. I am a devoted Catholic, born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Today, I find myself humbly asking for assistance for my beloved husband, Mark.

Mark and I have been married for 31 wonderful years, raising four amazing boys, ranging from ages 24 to 34. Throughout our time together, Mark has worked tirelessly, overcoming countless surgeries including neck surgeries, back surgeries, hip replacements, and more, all to support our family. He was always the pillar of strength—an invincible, hardworking man.

But after years of physical labor, my husband has finally reached a breaking point.

In early November 2024, while at work, Mark contracted a serious blood infection. This infection spread to his kidneys, back, and replaced hip, leaving him critically ill. For days, doctors warned me that he might not make it, as he drifted in and out of delirium. By the grace of God, Mark defied the odds, and after what seemed like an eternity, he regained his senses a week later.

Mark is now on the mend in terms of the infection, following extensive tests and a full hip replacement. However, the damage to his kidneys is severe, and unfortunately, he will likely need dialysis several times a week for the rest of his life.

As many of you know, my own health has also been a challenge. In 2020, I suffered a back injury that left me disabled. Coupled with my diabetes, I'm actively caring for myself, along with Mark. Though I still try to work part-time in commercial moving and cleaning, the physical demands of our situation are overwhelming. With Mark needing dialysis three times a week, I am forced to take him to appointments, which takes up a significant portion of my day, leaving me unable to work as much as I’d like.

Our boys, who all have their own families, are doing their best to support us, but as you can imagine, it's difficult for them to assist in every way. That’s why I’m reaching out to you today.

We are humbly asking for your help to cover the costs of Mark’s medical bills, travel expenses for his treatments, and daily needs as he continues his recovery. This assistance will also help us cover food, gas for doctor visits, and any other expenses we may encounter along the way.
