Hello, I’m setting up this GoFundMe for my husband, Mark Esparza. He is a 25-year-old, hard-working, devoted husband who loves his job and is the sole provider for our family. On December 15th, Mark suffered a near-fatal car accident on his way to work. The immense force of the impact caused the engine to detach and caused a severe blow to Mark, injuring his pancreas, liver, spleen, and aorta. These severe injuries that he suffered required two emergency surgeries to stop internal bleeding. He had internal bleeding in his brain. All this happened within the first few hours following the collision; this was emotionally terrifying as we waited, prayed, and hoped for the best-case scenario in his recovery. As is the case with these types of situations, more injuries came to light as the doctors worked on him: punctured lungs that were filling with fluid and blood, a fractured hip, and broken ribs. At first, Mark was not able to breathe on his own, so he spent several days on a ventilator. Thankfully, as of Friday, he can now breathe on his own and no longer relies on the ventilator; this, to our family, is a huge milestone and has brought us immense relief and renewed hope. Mark continues to fight every day with incredible strength and determination. While we are beyond grateful that he continues with us, we know he has a long and difficult recovery ahead.
