Support Mark Clegg's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
When my cousin Cindy’s husband, Mark, didn’t pick her up from work as expected on May 30th, she anxiously requested a ride home from a co-worker.
She found Mark paralyzed and immobile on the living room floor — the victim of a sudden hemorrhagic stroke in his brain a full 5 hours earlier in the day.
Luckily, he was alive, but sustained right-side paralysis and was unable to swallow. After 10 precarious days in ICU receiving nutrition through a gastric tube, he stabilized enough to be moved to an inpatient bed eating soft foods. After progressing there for a week, he improved enough to move to an acute rehab unit. This last weekend, Mark celebrated the milestone of taking one step with help from his physical therapist. Today, his recovery continues to progress extremely slowly.
His hospital bills have been progressing rapidly, though. I created this GoFundMe to help Mark and Cindy on their new path. The funds will help them with at-home 24-hour care, out-of-pocket medical bills, and house modifications to keep Mark safe and assist in his recovery. Nerves grow at 1mm a day, so this will be a long-term endeavor. Any amount that you can give will help them immensely and they would be so grateful for help at this moment.
Please also reach out to them and share encouragement and positive energy. Contacts from friends buoy their spirits and make the days go more smoothly.
