Support Marissa Alicea

In 2021, Marissa was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. As she was considering the medical recommendation for chemotherapy, it was discovered that she was pregnant with her third baby girl after 15 years of infertility. After facing the distress of being diagnosed with cancer, her baby girl was born February 2022 which brought much excitement to Marissa and her family. Following a post-operation visit later that year, it was discovered that Marissa had a lump in the same spot that initially led to her cancer diagnosis. She was informed that the cancer had returned and much more aggressive leading to her need for an additional surgery and chemotherapy treatments. The surgery led to additional complications which resulted in several ER visits and Admissions. The costs of surgeries, ER visits/admissions, and now chemotherapy treatments can be overwhelming for any patient. While we all try to plan for “a rainy day”, there is never enough to prepare us for these types of life-changing events. During her tenure with WellMed, Marissa was responsible for developing the Provider Relations team to support the Specialist/Ancillary network for the Enterprise, led the Florida Specialist/Ancillary network expansion and now oversees the Enterprise Network Contracting and Development teams
