As some of you already know, my family is going through a difficult time. While my niece won’t be happy that I’m going behind her back to ask for help, I know that so many of my friends are more than willing to help a person who’s struggling.

My sister/niece Marisol is only 8 months younger than me, and I have always considered her more a sister than a niece. She’s a hard worker, loyal friend, and fantastic wife, mother and grandmother. In June, she was diagnosed with a rare form of stage 3 gallbladder cancer. She started chemotherapy in June and was hoping for good news in October. That was not the case. She has to continue chemotherapy for 3 more months.

While her treatment options have been challenging, she’s never lost her drive and will to fight. I’m in awe of her strength. However, she isn’t able to work because she is also suffering from knee issues and bills are piling up. She just told me that she's putting up her house up for sale to help cover her medical bills and this just breaks my heart. This shouldn't be happening. Our healthcare system is broken, and we are the ones suffering the consequences. If anyone is able to help her out during this time, I will be forever indebted.
