Support Marisa's Dream of Studying Abroad

Hello everyone! 

I want to thank you all for taking the time to help Marisa achieve their goals in any way you are able. I know times are tough for so many of us, so anything and everything is appreciated and welcome. 

Marisa recently graduated from Butte College this May with an AA in English, and is now a transfer student at Chico State in the Multicultural and Gender Studies program. They are a full time, first generation student paying for school on their own. She has a lot of support in many forms, but is financially on their own. 

Since Spring 2023, she’s been balancing multiple jobs, all while maintaining a near-perfect GPA. At the start of this year, Marisa also began the process of a lifelong dream—studying abroad in Scotland—an opportunity that would enable her to expand her knowledge as a Multicultural and Gender Studies student and provide invaluable experiences for her career and life.

However, unexpected financial barriers have made it difficult for her to secure her place in the program. Despite working so hard to make her dreams a reality, she now faces uncertainty about this program. In the name of transparency, Marisa is receiving grants and scholarships that should cover all of their tuition for this program, but it is not enough financial aid to cover the entirety of the cost.
