Our names are Hilary and Carly and we are Maris' little sisters. On Thursday April 2nd Maris went into Urgent Care for severe back pain. We all thought that it was muscle pain but early Friday morning we received the devastating news that she has a tumor the size of a navel orange on her rib. Since then Maris has been in the hospital receiving numerous tests and working to get her pain under control (all the doctors said she must be incredibly tough as the tumor has eaten through her rib). Hopefully the next couple of weeks will bring some answers and a plan of action. Our family is needing support while we navigate these challenges.
Maris, Justin and their 9 month old baby Silas, live 40 minutes away from the hospital she is in. These funds would support with travel cost, meal costs, child care, and all the other expenses that come with this type of crisis. Maris and Justin are both currently on EI as Justin is in school and Maris is on maternity leave, adding to the financial stressors right now. No matter what the diagnosis, it will mean surgery with a long recovery.
On top of Maris' tumor, they recently found out that their son, Silas, has hydrocephalus. Silas will be getting a CT scan and will be needing medical treatment as well, adding to the stress and need for support.
If that wasn't enough, a year ago we lost our dear Mom to breast cancer. Our family was supposed to be on Vancouver Island honoring her for the one year anniversary of her passing. Instead of grieving her we are thrown into another traumatic experience a year later. Any support, no matter what the amount is appreciated.
Thank you for the love and care.
