Hi everyone,
We never imagined we’d be writing something like this. Today, we come to you with heavy hearts and a deep sense of vulnerability — holding onto hope as tightly as we can.
Mario is active duty military, a dedicated husband, and father to our two small children. For years, he has served with pride — often putting the needs of the country ahead of our own. But right now, our family is facing a storm that feels almost impossible to weather.
On January 18, 2024, we purchased a 2019 Kia Stinger for Mario — a dependable vehicle we believed would offer safety, stability, and carry our family through the many miles of military life. It wasn’t just a car, it was a lifeline — Mario’s way to get to base, to work, and to keep providing for us.
Then, without warning, the engine failed. One day it was running, and the next, it wasn’t. Just like that, we were left without the transportation Mario depends on every single day to fulfill his duty. Even though the warranty covers part of the cost, we were told we still owe thousands to make it driveable again. The estimate was staggering — and the timing, devastating.
The truth is, without reliable transportation, Mario’s military career itself is at risk. He’s already suffered a demotion because of struggles getting to base on time. Losing the means to get there consistently would be a final blow we can’t bear.
And sadly, the car isn’t our only battle.
Just weeks ago, we finally reached a dream years in the making — closing on our first home on July 8th. But within days, everything began to unravel. Mario tore his shoulder during duty, leaving him in constant pain. Four days later, he collapsed from heat stroke while working in the extreme summer heat.
As if that weren’t enough, within the same two-week span, we lost both of our grandmothers — my grandmother and Mario’s — leaving our family reeling with grief on top of everything else.
Trying to hold it all together — caring for our children, mourning our losses, facing medical challenges, and fighting to protect Mario’s career — has left us feeling like we’re drowning.
We are humbly asking for help to raise $10,000 to repair the car — the only vehicle Mario depends on to get to work, to serve his country, and to keep our family afloat. Without it, we are stuck — emotionally, financially, and physically.
If you can donate, share our story, or send words of encouragement, please know it means the world to us. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, is a light in this darkness.
Thank you for hearing our story, for standing with us, and for helping us through one of the hardest chapters we’ve ever faced.
With love and gratitude,
Halee and Mario Blaylock
