Help Me Bring My Mom Marilyn home as She Battles Stage 3 Lung Cancer
My name is Adrene, and my heart hurts as I write this.
My mom, Marilyn, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer, and every day feels like we're racing against time. She's alone in Ronan, Montana, barely getting by on a fixed income, trying to fight this battle on her own, while her family is here in Florida. The distance between us feels unbearable - especially now, when she needs us the most.
Anyone who knows my mom knows she is as stubborn as she is selfless and loving. She has spent her entire life caring for others including opening her heart and home to numerous foster children, volunteering through the church and community, moving her elderly uncle in when he could no longer live alone, and keeping a promise to her own mother by caring for her at home during her final years. Now, it's our turn to care for Marilyn. Our turn to show her that she deserves the same love and care that she’s provided to so many others over the years.
Why I'm asking for Help
I need to bring my mom home to Florida so she can be close to me, her family and the people who love her. The thought of her going through treatments and facing this pain alone is something I cannot accept.
But the reality is, the cost to move her across the country - along with everything tied to her medical care - is much more than I can handle on my own. It's overwhelming, and I'm scared. I just want her near me, and safe.
What the Funds Will go Towards:
- Travel expenses to get me from Florida to Montana to pack up her life there
- Vet fees and paperwork needed for travel clearance for her dog, Hope
- Travel expenses to get myself, mom, and Hope to Florida
- Medical equipment recommended by her oncologist (hospital bed, cane/walker)
- Basic needs as she transitions into care here
- Costs associated with that care
Why We're Asking
This move and her ongoing medical needs are urgent. We are asking for help as soon as possible so we can get her here and she will be with family and not alone and to be surrounded with love and support during her treatments.
Anything you can give - big or small - brings us one step closer to making sure she doesn't face this alone.
