Marilyn Cummins is my friend and coworker, and one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever met. When I first started working with her, she welcomed me with open arms and even brought me donuts one morning. This was all before I could even remember her name. That’s just the kind of person Marilyn is—always thinking of others and spreading kindness wherever she goes.

Recently, Marilyn’s life was turned upside down. She went in for a heart procedure that was supposed to be simple, but due to an undetected medication allergy, she suffered a severe reaction. The doctors didn’t realize in time, and as a result, Marilyn lost her leg from the knee down. The news was devastating for her and for everyone who knows her. None of us could have imagined something like this happening to someone so caring and full of life. Now, Marilyn is facing the reality of being an amputee and is unable to work, which has put her in a difficult financial situation.

The funds raised will help Marilyn cover her medical bills, living expenses, and the many new costs that come with her condition—mobility aids, physical therapy, and everyday items she now needs. Her amazing boyfriend has taken on all financial responsibilities, but living on one income is a struggle, especially with the added costs of equipment and the 30 different medications Marilyn now has to take. I also hope these funds can help her access mental health support, as the emotional toll of her life-altering surgery has dimmed the spark that once shone so brightly in her. Marilyn deserves the chance to heal and adjust to her new way of life, and I’m asking for your help to make that possible.
