Marigold Zoll and her son Ozley, residents of Waialua, Oʻahu, are facing an incredibly difficult time after their home on Haʻona Street was devastated by severe flooding in the early morning hours of March 20th. Their single family house was one of seven in the area that became uninhabitable almost overnight. Since then, Marigold and her 16-year-old son, a student at Waialua Highschool, have been without a place to call home and are in urgent need of support for housing and daily expenses.
Ozley shares, “I live on Haona street and I’m making this go fund to support me and my mom because she is too overwhelmed with the damage to our home and property caused by the disastrous flooding in our area to make one herself. Water got inside our entire home with some areas being at least 14+ inches deep indoors. Many of our belongings were swept away or damaged beyond saving and there was extensive damage to the inside of our house. This is the only place I have ever called home and it is heartbreaking to see it like this. It will take a lot of time and effort to rebuild and get to a point where it is safe to live in. We will forever be grateful for the huge amount of support and compassion coming from all over the island.”
The funds raised will help Marigold and Ozley secure temporary housing, replace essential items like clothing, and begin the long process of repairing their home. Expenses will also go toward making repairs so that their home is both inhabitable and more resilient to another flood. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in helping them rebuild their lives. Words are insufficient to describe how much gratitude Marigold and Ozley have for the community mutual aid and assistance of loved ones and strangers. Your kindness and support during this challenging time means more than you can imagine.
