Support Our Dear Marie's Journey to Recovery

While on vacation, our beautiful, vibrant, 50 year old mother suffered a brain aneurysm on July 27th, 2024, and was rushed to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center (UPMC) ICU in Erie, PA. Luke, Lance and I were deeply shocked by the news, and immediately flew up to be with her. A stent was surgically implanted in her brain. The stroke has impacted her speech and the doctors tell us she will need long term rehabilitation. We have a long journey of healing ahead. Our days are filled with prayer and faith in her recovery. Although progress has been slow, every improvement or additional word spoken is a reason for us to celebrate. Our next steps are to arrange transportation to a rehab facility and get our mom the best medical help available.

Three years ago, my brothers and I lost our father Rudy Carroll, very unexpectedly. It was a loss from which we have not fully recovered, as he was a significant part of our lives. Now seeing our dear mother Marie Allen Carroll, in her current state has been especially challenging. Since our father’s passing, our mother has been our primary source of emotional and financial support. Drs. David and Victoria Allen have lovingly been by her side, as well as John Getchell and her Aunt and Uncle, Cathy and Doug Kay.

Marie is loved by so many. She is our role model and best friend. We deeply appreciate all the help and encouragement from each and every one of you as we face this journey together.
