Hello there, my name is Mariela, and I am a 24-year-old transgender woman. I am currently in the process of undergoing medical transition, with my current goal being getting on hormone replacement therapy.

A bit about me: I had very recently come to the realization I was transgender due to the recovery work I have been doing and learning to find myself. I am currently in the process of coming out and have actively been going through the process of social transition in full swing, and it has already drastically improved my life. As mentioned, I want to seek out gender-affirming care as for me, living authentically in my identity and having my body match this is essential to the betterment of my health and, frankly, is life or death for me.

Cost is currently the biggest barrier for me when it comes to seeking out medical treatment. I am currently unemployed due to my severe PTSD and anxiety, and, due to my disabilities, I have developed a severe case of agoraphobia, which I am currently in the process of recovery and rehabilitation. I am in this strange area where I am having a hard time procuring needed funds for my gender-affirming care.

This GoFundMe will be used to help me afford some of the procedures that I need for my transition that will not be covered by insurance.
