My name is Mariela Sosa Rivero. I am 61 years old. On Sunday, October 26th I was taken to the hospital because I had severe abdominal pain, couldn't breathe properly, felt weak, and had no appetite. When I arrived at the hospital, several medical tests were performed, which revealed high blood sugar (505), pneumonia in my lungs, and a perforated intestine.

During the operation, the doctors struggled to maintain adequate oxygenation. It was a complicated operation. Because of the pneumonia, they couldn't reconstruct my intestine, so the doctors decided to perform peritoneal dialysis to save my life.

After the procedure, the doctors informed my family that they had TO BE INDUCE IN A COMA so my body could focus on stabilizing itself and my lungs could improve.

The doctors say I will be in an induced intubated coma for 2 to 3 days to improve my health and the cost to cover my medical needs are too high.
