Please help a beautiful, young, local family as they fight the battle of a lifetime
The Holderheads are much loved members of the tight-knit South Gippsland community.
Leon and Marie, along with Pearl (4), Freddie (2) and baby Alby are facing an unimaginable journey as Marie fights ovarian cancer.
Alby was born in October 2020 and little did we know what a blessing he would be. It was the gift of Alby that alerted doctors to a large, unknown mass in Marie’s ovaries.
Ovarian Cancer has no symptoms, so Marie may never have known about the cyst without the birth of Alby.
Just two weeks ago, Marie underwent major surgery and has now commenced chemotherapy. It is a long road to recovery, which also means long absences from her gorgeous children, adding to the incredible sadness.
Her husband Leon is doing an outstanding job managing all of this, along with the help of devoted family and friends. However, the reality is that he will not be able to work for the foreseeable future as he cares for his beautiful, young family.
The Holderheads are humble and reluctant to ask for help. However, there are so many of us feeling helpless and wanting to help. The first thing Marie did was to work with her sister's and the local community to raise money for Ovarian Cancer so that others can be helped. They have so far raised and donated $25,000 direct to Ovarian Cancer.
As a community, we can join together to relieve the day-to-day pressures while Leon, Marie and the children can focus on what’s really important.
Leon and Marie have made the commitment that any funds not utilised will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Australia.
