My husband was detained by ICE following what began as a simple traffic stop. He was then detained outside the courthouse and is now facing the possibility of being deported to Guatemala, separating him from the family and community that depend on him.

My husband is the heart of our family. He is a hardworking, compassionate man who has always put others before himself. Beyond providing for our household, he is my primary source of support as I manage ongoing medical issues and attend numerous doctor’s appointments. He is the one who cares for me, helps me get to appointments, and stands beside me through every health challenge.

He is also an incredible father. Our daughter faces both mental and physical health challenges, and he plays an essential role in her care. He is there to support her through difficult days, accompany her to medical and mental health appointments, and provide the stability, encouragement, and love that she relies on. The thought of our daughter having to face these challenges without her father by her side is heartbreaking.

He is someone who brings kindness and positivity to everyone he meets. Friends, neighbors, and coworkers know him as a person who is always willing to lend a helping hand. Losing him would leave an immeasurable void not only in our family but throughout our community.
