For over 40 years, Maria Rooney has been raising prize-winning sheep in Silverton, Oregon. She is one of the most hardworking people I know, and her passion for her sheep is truly inspiring. Maria has contributed to the sheep industry by serving on many national breed association boards and has generously shared her livestock experience and knowledge, especially encouraging youth in sheep activities. Her dedication to her livestock community has made her a tremendous asset.

Recently, while attending the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, Maria was in a debilitating accident that required surgery for a broken femur. She is now back home, but her recovery means she cannot take care of her sheep as she always has. The daily demands of the farm are immense, and Maria urgently needs help to ensure her animals are cared for during this difficult time.
