Support Maria's Family in Funeral Expenses

Hi, I’m Joanna, daughter-in-law to Maria Velasquez. Maria passed away at the age of 87 peacefully in her home in Nampa, ID on April 24th after battling health complications. Maria lived a long life loved by her children, grandchildren, and friends. We are asking for donation funds to help our family cover the cost of Maria’s funeral expenses. Anything helps. Rosary services will be held Tuesday April 30th at 7:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Home in Caldwell, ID. Burial services will be held Wednesday May 1st, time TBD, at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, ID.

Maria Velasquez was a very sweet woman. Born on June 27th 1936 in San Pedro Pierda Gorda Zacatecas Mexico. She moved to Idaho in the 70’s and started a career at J.R. Simplot Company where she would later retire after 27 years. Widowed by Felix H. Velasquez in august of 1988, she was left to raise her children on her own. She worked overtime to provide for her family always making sure that her children would have warm meals. She never learned to drive, always car pooling or walking to make ends meet demonstrates how strong willed, resilient and devoted she was to providing for her family. After retiring from the J.R. Simplot Company, she helped raise her grandchildren and in her final year they helped take care of her.

Maria is survived by her two Sons Angel Rosales and Felix Velasquez, and her daughter Janie Velasquez-Ortiz and son-in-law Gumercindo Ortiz, along with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria is preceded in death by her first born son Antonio López.
