Hello friends and family,

This is a fundraiser in honor of Maria Giles (Melgoza) - loving mother (to her son, daughter, and fur baby Mia), sister, aunt, and a beautiful soul who touched the lives of so many with her strength, contagious laugh and humor. Nothing was stronger than her faith and her love for others.

Maria was only 60 years old, and she passed unexpectedly. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after having abdominal pains. The doctors tried to treat her strong infection with medication, but she was not improving. She was diagnosed with ischemic colitis, and on Saturday night, she went into an emergency surgery, which determined her intestines were completely dead. The doctors mentioned that there was nothing else they could do for her. She passed on Sunday morning surrounded by her close family members. She was a fighter like no one else; she fought through the pain so much that when she tried to get help, it was too late.

She leaves behind a son who is a disabled Marine veteran, a daughter who has a medical disability, and a fur baby that is lost without her. During this difficult time, we ask for your support—whether it's $1, $5, $50, or more—this goes directly to helping with her services, flowers, the mariachi she had always talked about. We also ask that you keep her family in your prayers during this difficult time. May she rest in heaven.
