**Help Maria in Her Fight Against Cancer**

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of one my best friends Maria who is currently battling colon cancer. She is a remarkable woman who has dedicated her life to helping others, first as a paralegal for 30 years, and more recently as a flight attendant for JetBlue. Unfortunately, due to her ongoing health struggles, she is now unable to work and needs our support.

In August 2021, Maria was diagnosed with colon cancer. She bravely underwent surgery and, after a week in the hospital, returned to work within a month, determined to continue her life as normally as possible. However, the cancer returned in August 2022, leading to another surgery and a longer hospital stay of 2 1/2 weeks, followed by six months of chemotherapy.

In August 2023, Maria faced yet another diagnosis of colon cancer. She underwent surgery in November and began chemotherapy again in February 2024, requiring a port placed inside her body for treatment every two weeks. Despite these hardships, She has shown incredible resilience and strength.

As of November 2024, she will have been out of work for a year. Additionally, in September 2024, she needs ambulatory surgery to place a stent to relieve the pain caused by a swollen kidney due to a tumor pressing on her arteries and nerves.

While her insurance covers a portion of her medical bills, there are significant out-of-pocket expenses that she is struggling to meet. Her long-term disability income is $3,588 a month, but her rent alone is $2,650. With additional monthly expenses such as utilities, cell phone, cable, and home insurance, not to mention food and transportation to medical appointments, She is facing a financial crisis.
