This gofundme is on behalf of Mariam Omar. In her freshman year in college, the genocide in Gaza started and Mariam had to escape to Egypt. After multiple rejections, Mariam got a conditional offer at Goldsmiths University of London to study Anthropology but with no financial aid. This gofundme is to help raise money so that Mariam can pay for tuition, visa, flight, and living expenses for her first year.

To secure her seat, mariam must pay $5000 by September. As for her tuition payment, the university has agreed to a payment plan. We plan to help Mariam pay the first installment, which is $12,000, with the money raised in this campaign.

About Mariam:

Mariam is 20 years old. She spent her entire life in Gaza and lived through the horrors of war. After seven months of displacement, constant danger, and unimaginable hardship, her father used the last of his savings to evacuate her, her mother, and younger brother to Egypt. He had to stay behind there wasn’t enough money for all of them.

Now in Egypt, Mariam works to support her family, facing serious financial struggles. Her university in Gaza was destroyed, and she couldn’t continue her education due to time and money constraints. For two years during the war, she kept applying to universities but faced rejection after rejection until finally, she was accepted into the BA Anthropology program at Goldsmiths, University of London.

This opportunity means the world to her. She was born in 2004 people her age are graduating this year. It is her right to study, but she cannot afford the tuition. We are here to help her pursue her education, as no sponsor has stepped forward yet.
