Support Mariah Gentry Abdallah's Cancer Battle

Donation protected
We’re setting up this GoFundMe for an incredible fighter, mother, wife, sister, daughter, teacher, and coach.

Mariah Gentry Abdallah is a pediatric cancer survivor. She was living her best life as a junior in high school, playing volleyball for a local Bakersfield favorite - Liberty High School. At 17 years old, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, bone cancer, and her young life quickly changed. Mariah had to have extensive surgery to remove the tumor in her left knee and femur. This type of slow-growing cancer cannot be treated with chemotherapy or radiation; it requires surgery. The surgery was invasive; her knee and half of her femur were completely replaced with a prosthetic. She was unable to walk for almost 5 months.

Over the last year, as she was finishing up her teaching credential, Mariah noticed increased pain in her left leg. She feared the worst but prayed for good news. Unfortunately, after several weeks of waiting, the news she feared became her reality again. The cancer has returned. She is scheduled for surgery on October 8th at City of Hope, Duarte, CA. As a new teacher, her insurance will not cover her leave to handle this life-saving operation. She is facing a significant amount of medical bills, along with the financial stress of everyday life. She is an incredible person who doesn’t deserve what she and her family are facing…she is also a believer in God and trusts Him.

Mariah has been a stay-at-home mama for the last several years to her daughter, Remington, and her one-year-old son, Colter. Choosing to stay home with her children did not come easy financially, but it’s what she and her husband, Matthew, committed to. She was also in school finishing her credential and was recently hired as a 3rd-grade teacher for the Norris School District. She’s an amazing fit at our Bimat campus! In addition to her wife and mom role, and now her teacher role, she is also a beloved club volleyball coach for Bakersfield Volleyball Club.

Mariah is a Bakersfield native; Rosedale School District, Liberty High School, former VB coach for BCHS, and current for BVC, Teacher for Norris School District AND she’s an AMAZING HUMAN BEING!

Mariah’s surgery will be extensive and intrusive; they are replacing the knee and femur which was replaced 12 years ago as the tumor has grown into her prosthetic femur. In addition, they will need to extend the metal in her femur to ensure they get the entire tumor.

Your donation will relieve Mariah and her family of the financial burden of the surgery and her extended time without income to allow her to focus on resting and healing.

Pray for Mariah, her surgeons, her young family, her healing, her comfort, and her trust in God. Pray for full and complete recovery, and her body being cancer-free once again!

Thank you, thank you, for your donation. Every dollar makes a difference.

Sincerely,
Mariah’s Cheering and Prayer Squad
